Mission Statement
The mission of the university library is to provide information and support
for members of the Buena Vista University community in their pursuit of
excellence. The library seeks to nurture the developing scholar and to instill
confidence in dealing with increasing amounts of information in an ever-changing
array of formats. Utilizing the latest in technological opportunities, the
library provides access to collections and resources and offers instruction in
their analysis and application.

About Electronic Services
Who can use this web site?
Most of the site, such as our catalog and help features can be used by anyone.
However, access to online databases is limited to current BVU students, faculty,
and staff.
Who can I call or email for help?
Call (712) 749-2203 and ask for reference. If the library is closed you should
get an answering machine. You can also call the toll-free number at
1-800-383-9600 and ask for the library. This number is answered 8 a.m. to 10
p.m. weekdays during the school year. Leave a message at the 749-2203 number if
the 800 number is not available. For email help, send us an
e-mail.
How can I connect to your databases?
When accessed from on campus, connection will be automatic. When off campus,
eligible users (BVU students, faculty and staff) should click on the name of the
database. You will then have to go through an authentication process.
How can I order books and articles that you don't own?
People who are eligible (see below) can order material through
Illiad (Interlibrary Loan).
Who is eligible for ILL (Interlibrary loan)?
Students, faculty and staff of BVU, Storm Lake Campus students of ICCC and guest
borrowers.
How do I cite articles from the electronic databases?
How you cite articles depends on what form of citation your faculty member has

How can I get books and print articles in the library?
People who live nearby are expected to come in and make copies of articles or
check the books out. People who live a distance can request items using the
ILLiad service.
How do I reserve a room in the library?
To reserve a group study or the conference room, contact Deb Payne at (712)
749-2091 or send an email to her. To reserve
the seminar room (large room), contact Jodie Morin at (712) 749-2097 or send an
email to her.
