Every faculty and staff person on campus is committed to providing our students with the outcomes they expect as graduates. But the real benefit of a BVU education lies in helping our students discover more than they ever dreamed was possible.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of watching students progress through their years at Buena Vista University is observing how they leave with so much more than they ever thought they would receive from their college education. In making the decision to attend college, students understandably often focus on one important outcome — acquiring an education that will lead to a good job and a rewarding career.

Yet the true value of their degree is perhaps a more unexpected outcome — their BVU education, whether on the Storm Lake campus or at our 15 Centers locations, excites and nurtures the intellectual flexibility they will need for lifelong employability as they face the global dimensions and demands of an evolving job market.

Similarly, first-year students find themselves rewarded with other outcomes as they progress in their academic and
co-curricular endeavors: selfconfidence, mental stimulation, overall wellness, a global perspective, a drive to serve others, technological resourcefulness, leadership ability, and a feeling of connectedness with their alma mater.

Most notable of all, these outcomes are not reserved for only the most successful students at BVU — they are possible for all our students, thanks to this University’s intentional focus on learner-centered education.
