BVU Communications Enters New Era

Buena Vista University is rapidly expanding the depth and the reach of its communications to alumni, friends, and other constituents.
With this issue of Buena Vista Today, we have doubled the number of pages, giving you more stories and more detail about how BVU addresses some of the major issues in higher education and in society.
For example, the cover story of this edition tells about the impact of rising tuition costs and access to higher education through the eyes of BVU students, parents, and the BVU administrative team. This is an issue of national importance that concerns boards, administrators, and political leaders just as much as it does students and their parents. I encourage you to read this story to become better informed about this highly sensitive issue.
By expanding Buena Vista Today, we also have the opportunity to share stories about how BVU alumni and friends contribute to their professions and to society. We also have more space to explore different aspects of the student experience at BVU, such as the focus in this issue on the campus spiritual life program.
In addition to the print version of Buena Vista Today, you can find an expanded version of each issue online (www.bvu.edu/news/publications.asp) featuring more detail on selected stories. We also have online editions of two other print publications: BVBriefs, which reports on alumni activities, and The Tack, the student newspaper.
Beyond the online versions of these publications, we are also adopting new opportunities to tell BVU’s story via the Internet, such as live webcasting of selected campus events. Our most recent webcast was May 2004 commencement.
Using both the established and new digital avenues of communication, we can give a broad world audience an in-depth view of BVU, our students, and those who support our mission. I hope you enjoy this expanded version of Buena Vista Today.
