In addition to several mailings each year to BVU alumni and friends, the Office of Institutional Advancement conducts these campaigns annually.
Community Campaign
Buena Vista University has a long tradition of partnership with regional businesses, dating back to 1904 when Buena Vista College trustee Willis C. Edson, a young local attorney, set about raising $1,500 in an effort to pay overdue faculty salaries. Ten minutes after making his first request of the people of Storm Lake, Edson had $500, and a few days later, he had gathered the full amount. Today's campaign secures over $100,000 in support from the local business and professional community. For more information or to offer your support, please call 712-749-2101.
Faculty and Staff Campaign
Over the years, the extraordinarily high percentage of participation in the Buena Vista University Faculty and Staff Campaign has demonstrated a strong belief in the mission of the University. This award-winning campaign reflects just how much caring and giving among BVU professors and employees has grown, with participation increasing from 57 percent in 1988 to 90 percent in 2003.
Senior Gift Campaign
Each year, the senior class of Buena Vista University has the opportunity to come together one last time to make its mark on BVU and continue a tradition of giving. Seniors pool funds to purchase a senior class gift to leave behind for underclassmen and future students, while also pledging to BVU's general fund.
Phonathon
Buena Vista University has found that a phone call is one of the most effective ways to reach all of its alumni and friends. Plus, it's a more personal way to stay in touch with these people and to receive feedback from them. That's why each fall BVU sets out to call alumni and friends and ask their support for its annual fund.
