The Gloria Siebens Freund Career Services Center at Buena
Vista University in Storm Lake and staff members at each campus offer Center
students assistance with their job search. The Storm Lake campus offers a wide
variety of servicesincluding special career days and on-campus recruiting programsall of which are open
to Center students. In addition, Center staff members are knowledgeable about regional
opportunities and are available to students for information regarding career
counseling and job placement.

The Vault
The Vault is now open! BVU students can access the largest and most comprehensive, user-friendly online career library anywhere anytime! In The Vault you will be able to research employers and industries, download 90+ career e-books, get good career advice and read "a day in the life" articles and much more. You will need to request a password with your bvu email account that is good for 24 hours. Need more time? Just request another password, no problem.
Career Search
This website gives you access to a comprehensive database of over 4 million companies and schools nationwide. Search for information on a particular company, person, industry or location using a variety of search options. Download and save the information you want into your own database. You will create your own user name and password. We share this resource with several other Iowa private colleges, and a limited number of users can be logged in at one time. If you are denied access, try again in an hour. Contact careerservices@bvu.edu for the referral key.
FOCUS
FOCUS is a self-guided career guidance program that can help you discover and explore career paths that match your personal attributes, map out your education and career plans, and narrow down your options. FOCUS has a large database of occupational information that includes job duties, required skills and educational level, future outlook, and salary.
The top three sections for receiving useful feedback are: Interests and Work Values, Education and Training, and Your Personality and Life Values. To get started, request the keycode from careerservices@bvu.edu. You will then create your own user name and password and can use the site as often as you wish.
Occupational Outlook Handbook
Published by the U.S. Department of Labor, this handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives. The Handbook is revised every two years. Use the search function in the upper right hand corner to search for comprehensive information on any U.S. occupation.
