Hunter Balmer, head coach

Hunter is set to begin his second season as head women's soccer coach at Buena Vista. Prior to being promoted to head coach, he served two seasons as an assistant coach for the program.
Balmer, who hails from Harrisonburg, Virginia, holds a master’s degree in Parks, Recreation, and Sports Leadership with an emphasis on Coaching and Sports Leadership (’04) from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also holds his National Coaching Diploma (’01) from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Balmer played in Virginia as a goalkeeper at Roanoke College (’00) and competitively growing up with the Roanoke Valley Soccer Club. He has coached high school, club, and Olympic Development Program (ODP) soccer teams of both genders and varied ages. Most notably, he served as head goalkeeping coach for the Western District of Virginia ODP. Balmer resides in Storm Lake.
