Derrick Sleezer will be entering his third season as the head women's golf coach at Buena Vista University in the fall of 2008. In his first year, he coached an All-American to the NCAA National Championships.

Sleezer had been the head girl's golf coach at Washington High School in Cherokee for four seasons before coaching at Buena Vista. He led the club to consecutive conference championships in 2005 and 2006, which were the first league titles in the program's history. Sleezer also guided the squad to its first appearance at the state tournament in 2005.

Sleezer was a three-year letter winner on the golf team at Drake University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing. He was a member of two state champion teams while at Aurelia High School. Sleezer, who is also employed as a manager at Sleezer Fertility Center in Aurelia, has won the individual title at the Aurelia Open five times and was the Sioux Valley Match Play champion in 1998.

"I am really looking forward to joining the Buena Vista staff and continuing the success the program has enjoyed," Sleezer commented. "I look forward to having a good season in the upcoming school year."
