Gayle Sykes SL'01 is teaching K-8 band and vocal at St. Mary's School in Storm Lake these days. But that's not all, thanks to her background in the music program at BVU.

""I've directed the pit orchestra for the Cherokee theatre, played in the pit band for several local shows, sang for church, played for the community summer band, given piano lessons, and directed a production of 'School House Rock Live, Jr.' All of this was made possible by the various experiences I had at BVU, like the madrigal and musicals."

A Trip to Cuba »
Buena Vista University's "Bridges" program is a new internationally-themed, cross-disciplinary component of BVU curriculum that is designed to unite three aspects of academics - study travel, Academic and Cultural Events Series (ACES) performances and lectures, and courses from all five BVU schools around a particular geographical region. For this year's focus on Latin America, 23 BVU students were offered something unprecedented...
