Chris Todden is in his seventh year at Buena Vista University serving as the Athletic Training Education Program Director and Head Athletic Trainer. Prior to joining Buena Vista, Todden was head athletic trainer and chair of Sports Medicine and Physical Education Department at Dakota Wesleyan University. He is responsible for the day-to-day operation, coordination, supervision and evaluation of all aspects of the athletic training facility, and athletic training education program. He is an active certified member of the NATA, speaking at symposiums and seminars, and a Commission on the Accreditation of Athletic Training Education site visitor. Todden is a 1991 graduate of Buena Vista and received his terminal degree in 2007 from the University of South Dakota, and a master's degree in 1995 from Western Illinois University.
Chris's research interests include dynamic stretching and physiological adaptation as a method of injury prevention and the effects of clinical loads on athletic training faculty.

Danelle Smith joined Buena Vista University in 2002. She completed her master's degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI., in 1995. Prior to joining BVU, Smith was an assistant trainer at the University of Evansville (IN), where she served as athletic trainer for the women's basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. She was involved in developing the athletic training education program at Evansville in order to pursue CAAHEP accreditation for their department. A native of Medford, Wisconsin, Smith was a 1994 graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a minor in Athletic Training and Health Education. In addition to her responsibilities as the Clinical Education Coordinator for the Athletic Training Education Program, Danelle serves as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Exercise Science Department. She will be providing care to the Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, and Men’s Tennis teams. Smith resides in Alta, IA.
Danelle serves as a Clinical Educator Instructor and is currently pursuing her Doctoral degree in Teacher Leadership. Smith’s research interests are in the evaluation of clinical skills and proficiencies and the methods of instruction for approved clinical instructors.

Alison Mosel joined Buena Vista University in the fall of 2003. She continues to serve as an assistant athletic trainer and an instructor in the Exercise Science Department. Alison graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD in the spring of 2001. While at Wesleyan, Mosel interned at Baker University in Baldwin City, KS and Neu Physical Therapy Clinic in Lawrence, KS. Prior to joining BVU, she completed her Master's degree in Education at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. Alison will provide athletic training coverage for the Buena Vista Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Baseball and Softball teams. Alison is a native of Orchard, NE, and she currently resides in Alta, IA.
Alison's research area interests include nutritional aspects of today's athletes in the specific areas of hydration, weight loss, and pre-game meals.

James Day joined Buena Vista University in August 2006. Prior to joining BVU, he served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Virginia where he earned his Master's Degree of Education in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. While at UVA he served as an athletic trainer to the Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Golf, and Men's and Women's Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field teams. He is originally from North Idaho and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Eastern Washington University. James will be serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and Instructor in the Exercise Science Department. James will be providing care to the Football, Men's and Women's Golf, Women’s Tennis, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Wrestling, and Men's and Women's Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field teams. James resides in Storm Lake with his wife, Nicole.
James’s research interests are in the management of sport related mild traumatic brain injury, specifically the use of computerized neuropsychological computerized testing and testing environment.
