As you can see, the question shouldn’t be, “What can a student do with an
English degree?” rather, “What can’t a student do?”
BVU English graduate Beth Dehn says...
"The English Department provided me with a well rounded education- writing, lingusitics, and a variety of literary genres- that has really opened my knowledge of the world and left me greater interest for my future studies. People always ask what you can do with an English degree- mine took me to Japan. Everything from linguistics and grammar is flooding back to me here. Anyway, after graduating I have a new appreciation for what I learned from the English Dept."
BVU English graduate Adam Schenck, currently Graduate Assistant at University of AZ in Tucson, says...
"I teach 100-level English classes, mostly for first-year students. Small class sizes at BVU convinced me that student-centered, active learning is best for me, both as a student and as an instructor. . . . BVU creates a community where opportunities and stimulation is much more readily available than at large universities. . . . I was involved in debate, intramural sports, theater, The Tack, and as an Academic Assistant to Annamaria Formichella Elsden."
