In the Fall semester of 2002, the faculty formally approved a new assessment plan. Over the next 5 years, the faculty, led by the assessment committee, worked to implement of the provisions of that plan. As a consequence, program objectives, along with assessment materials and strategies, were developed for each major as well as the various components of the General Education program. During those years, it also gradually became apparent that, as we came to understand the assessment process more deeply, and as the curriculum evloved, some modifications were needed in the assessment plan. Therefore, throughout the Fall 2006 semester the assessment committee developed a proposal for a revised plan. An early draft of that proposal was shared with the faculty, discussed at school meeting, and then modified on the basis of faculty feedback. A final draft was presented to the Academic Affairs committee in late February, 2007, and subsequently approved by both the committee and the Senate.
